BioDiem Pipeline

The following three projects are the focus of BioDiem's experienced management team.

1. Live attenuated Influenza vaccine (LAIV). This product, the world's first intranasal live flu vaccine, has been in public use in Russia for a decade after extensive clinical trials demonstrated its superiority to inactivated flu vaccines delivered by intramuscular injection. Its advantages, from a single intranasal dose, include - activating a broader immune response, reducing the incidence of related illnesses such as otitis media, and reducing the spread of influenza in close knit communities like schools, through herd immunity.

2.Retinal Eye Disease Treatment (BDM-E).  BDM-E is a small synthetic peptide that has a tissue specific effect on cells of the retina.  BDM-E is a potential treatment for the two major causes of blindness; Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) and Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).

3. BDM-I is a synthetic antimicrobial compound. In laboratory evaluations it shows broad spectrum activity in bacteria, fungi and protozoa. Current antibiotics have lead to the development of resistant micro-organisms and, therefore, loss of clinical activity. Microorganisms have developed resistance to every class of antibiotic with a very small number of drugs able to control infections with multiply resistant micro-organisms. A new class of anti-infective compound directed against a novel target in bacteria, fungi and protozoa has been synthesized and research to date indicates that it would have a high barrier to the development of resistance. Further development work is being planned.
